What It’s All About Now

sus·tain·able (sə stān′ə bəl)

adjective

  1. capable of being sustained
    1. designating, of, or characterized by a practice that sustains a given condition, as economic growth or a human population, without destroying or depleting natural resources, polluting the environment, etc. sustainable agriculture
    2. governed or maintained by, or produced as a result of, such practices sustainable growth

We must create things that will sustain: local economies, governments at all levels, health care, habits, practices. Following a century where everything was about growth at any cost, and a decade that hopefully taught us a lesson about the perils of that approach, we now must change the lens through which we see the world.

As you may or may not know, I wholeheartedly agree with this statement. Recognizing and understanding how impactful sustainability on all levels could and should be is a difficult mind shift for some. Once realized, it can breed local economies and growth for the town, region, and states. Cradle to cradle industry and buy local could revolutionize this economy.
