Because of my success with online communication and social media, I’ve had the opportunity to speak to large groups and huddle with individual business owners about how to improve their presence online. And I’ll tell you, it’s really cool to see that social media “light bulb” come on in their heads as they start to “get it.”
Unfortunately, I have a business and a family and all the other wonderful distractions that life has to offer, and the requests have become a little too much for me to handle. So I have searched online for a good step-by-step starter kit to point people to that would give them a leg up on implementing a social media strategy. One BIG problem: there isn’t one. With all of the hype and all of the “experts” out there, no one has adequately put pen-to-paper (or pixels-to-screen) and laid it out for beginners.
So what I’ve decided to do is to put my entire social media & online communications plan on video in one place, so that everyone who wants a step-by-step plan on how & why to implement a strategy can get one.
And it’s incredibly important that you do this yourself. There are people out there who will charge you thousands of dollars to get you “set up” on social media. But if you do it that way, you don’t understand it, and it’s harder to be the authentic communicator your business needs you to be.
So you need to do it yourself, but that doesn’t mean you can’t benefit from the lessons I’ve learned in five years communicating online through blogs, email and social media.
So I’ll put it all online. So far, I’ve come up with 20 different how-to videos that I’ll compile, ranging in time from a few minutes to over half an hour each — everything from how to start a Twitter account to social media theory to podcasting.
I am going to make this available to the public sometime in the end of January/beginning of February, and since this involves a huge time commitment and a public emptying of my bag of tricks, I will be charging for it. I’ve decided to charge the minimum wage rate ($7.25/hour) for each hour it takes me to compile the content.
My estimate is that it will take about 40-45 hours to screencast, shoot video, record audio and edit. That would come out in the $300 range. In fact, I’ll guarantee right now it will be less than $300. And you’ll get access to a full online media plan — videos on blogging, Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, YouTube, email, podcasting, vlogging — the works. For less than one week in the newspaper or on the radio or TV.
What I need from you, however, is for you to opt in to the email communication list by entering your email into this form. I’ll be building the idea and polishing off the concept on that list. I’ll be sending out some test videos to get your feedback, and you’ll be the first ones notified of the launch of the full video kit. And you’ll get a bonus for being on the list.
I’m excited to do this, and to allow a much wider audience to get that “light bulb” feeling and leverage online communication to increase the effectiveness and profitability of your small business.
If there’s something you want to learn or something you want to ensure makes it into the plan, click here to send me an email.
So here’s the form to opt in to the conversation. Your email won’t be sold or traded or used in any way other than for the purposes of this plan and any future updates.
I look forward to helping your business. And please, if you’re able, help me spread the word about this to anyone you think might benefit from it. Thanks!
